new year... new looks

well friends, its JANUARY. when did that happen? just like every other, 2014 just flew by and here we are left with the challenge of dressing for much cooler weather. i love layering in the winter months not just to keep warm, but also because it gives you the chance to add more pieces to your ensembles. one of the items i am currently obsessing over is this red and black plaid shirt. in my opinion it goes with just about every outfit and can very easily be dressed up or down. for a busy day running errands i put on my comfiest outfit, leather jacket and plaid shirt tied around my waste. to dress up my favorite top, i paired it with this chic black skirt, tights and black booties. happy new year dolls!

i got this tunic months ago and stuffed it into the black hole that is my closet, forgetting all about it. when i found it, i ripped off the tags and threw it on immediately. i love how versatile this dress is... i can wear it dressed up, down, at the beach over a bathing suit and pretty much any season as long as it's styled right. for a casual look, i belted it and grabbed my suede chocolate booties and favorite printed cross body bag. to dress it up, i wore my fur vest, floppy hat, suede grey stiletto booties and a long turquoise necklace for a little pop of color. if you're experiencing some colder weather, adding some tights and throwing on a coat would work too.

december must have | nye looks

even though the christmas season has quickly come and gone there is still one last chance to sport your favorite holiday looks...new years eve! new years eve is the best for fashion because you can literally do whatever you want - you can glam it up or keep it casual. it is absolutely up to you and whatever your plans may be. for a casual look i paired my wide leg jeans with a red faux tuck top and a sparkly collarless jacket. i also added a sparkly statement necklace to give this outfit more of a NYE vibe. for a dressier look i put on my red long sleeve romper and some polka dot tights. i finished the look with a bold red lip to match. for the last look i paired my black leather skirt with a turtleneck sweater, black tights and black booties. i also put on one of my favorite vampy red lipsticks to edge it up. have a very happy new year everyone..and a very special shoutout to my very talented mother for letting us borrow her home to shoot out holiday inspired outfits.

well nye is upon us and if you're anything like me, you still haven't decided what to wear! i've narrowed my choices to a few options but i still thought i'd share some ideas for all of you last-minute ladies like me. a sweater and skirt combo is always a good choice for any winter event and throwing on some fun tights will help you stay a little warmer. personally, i believe nye calls for some sparkle and nothing says new years like a metallic sequin dress. i added some tights and booties and threw on my leather jacket to add some edge. if a whole dress of sequins is too much for you, the sparkly blazer in my last look might be the perfect meet in the middle piece. this blazer can instantly add some glamour to any jumpsuit or lbd. as for your makeup, a subtle sparkly shadow and bold lip will bring any of your outfits together and help you ring in the new year with some style!

same chic new day's holiday gift guide

'tis the season
well, it's that time of the year! whether you're looking for some gift ideas for others or some things to add to your own wishlist, we're here to help. here are a few of our favorite things this holiday season to gift (or get)...

anthropologie metallic monogram mugs: we love the original black monogram mugs they carry and we just couldn't resist these metallic ones. when gifting them, you could also fill them with some goodies (candy, beauty products, hot chocolate packets and mini bailey's bottles etc.)

boulangerie jar candle: these candles smell good enough to eat (but we won't) and come in five other amazing scents so you're sure to find the perfect scent for your perfect someone.

kate spade lucky streak tiger studs: these earrings are purrrfect (sorry we couldn't resist) for your fiercest friend.

forever 21 statement necklace set: these three necklaces look chic alone or layered together and the whole set is under $30.

sonia kashuk holiday makeup brush set: this gold collection has all of the necessary makeup brushes and is under $35.

essie holiday mini nail color kit: this set has some gorge winter colors and would also make a great stocking stuffer. oh yes, and it's under $15!

mac lipstick: these lippies are also some great stocking stuffers. we recommend getting some bolder colors to gift. some of our faves are diva, rebel, and twig. if you're looking for a drugstore dupe, nyx lipsticks will get the job done too.

sonix gold lace clear iPhone 6 plus case: phone cases are always a fun gift or stocking stuffer.

pink sugar rollerball: this is one of our favorite scents! we love the rollerball because its perfect to throw in your purse in case you ever need a touch-up and its only $20.

forever 21 cosmetic bags in gold & white and black & white: both of these adorable makeup bags are under $10 and can easily be stuffed with goodies when gifting.

kate spade daisy place créme de la créme mug: ok, so we clearly have a little obsession with mugs. this one is a bit pricier than the anthro mugs but its super chic and could be great for drinking coffee or holding your pens in your office.

sugar paper 2015 daily planner: these planners are cute and another great buy at under $10.

naked on the run palette: the newest palette to the urban decay family has everything you need for a great natural look.

fujifilm instax mini 25: a friend of ours had one of these instant cameras at her birthday party last weekend and we were obsessed with it. its great for parties and get togethers.

fresh to dare bare lip sugar ritual: holiday gift sets are great because you get to try out some more expensive products at a great value. this gift set has everything your lips need for this harsh winter weather.

zara houndstooth scarf: patterened scarves are a must for winter and this scarf is everything we've been looking for.

rebecca minkoff paris clutch: this clutch is straight from the runway and the perfect accessory for an evening out.

we hope this helps you out for the holidays! if you have any other great gift ideas, we'd love to hear about them... the more the merrier!

november's monthly must have | opposites attract

knits & neon

pleather & polka dots

plaids and stripes

leather and lace

we're all for getting the most out of what you have in your closet and sometimes the best way to do that is to mix things up a bit. for anyone who loves extra options, pairing up even the most opposite pieces of clothing can be a great way to go. when trying out this trend, we find it best to keep it simple. we try to stick to the rule of two... mixing two different patterns or textures can have a great outcome but doing more than two is a lot trickier and can be distracting or unflattering. we know there are exceptions to every rule, so don't be afraid to experiment! we just find the rule of two to be the easiest way. we also love mixing florals with stripes or polka dots, mixing chambray tops with other denim washes and adding a pop of color to your mixed materials. what are some other opposites you like to pair?

adoring autumn

there is no doubt about it... it's finally fall! break out the oversized sweaters, booties and everything basic. personally, i tend to wear jeans year round but i am especially obsessed with this particular pair of jeans for fall. they are distressed in all the right places and are super versatile. to keep the jeans casual i paired them with a cozy black knit sweater and some brown boots. to switch the look up for a girls night out, or whatever your heart desires, i paired them with a navy faux tuck top, brown booties and my favorite brown handbag. i also added a dark red lip to complete this fall look.

erin's day look: jeans american eagle, black knit sweater thrifted find similar styles herehere and here, boots madden girl, earrings forever 21

erin's evening look: navy top nordstrom rack similar here and here, brown booties sam edelman, brown handbag michael kors, lipstick diva by mac

the leaves are finally changing and its officially sweater weather! i just recently added this charcoal knit to my never-ending sweater collection and i'm in love! during the day, it goes great with jeans and booties for a cozy, casual look. all i needed to dress my sweater up was a basic skirt and some strappy, pointed toe heels. what's great about this sweater is how timeless it is. a good knit sweater never goes out of style and you can't go wrong pairing it with other wardrobe staples.

Sarah's day look: sweater nordstrom rack similar here and here, jeans abercrombie and fitch, booties target (old) similar here and here, necklace free style clothing exchange, tote rebecca minkoff.

sarah's evening look: tulip skirt heart boutique, cross body forever 21, heels aldo similar here, watch michael kors, lipstick revlon va va violet
happy fall!
